Alvin & Nicole

Welcome to our Wedding Website!

We are thrilled to share our love story and the journey that has brought us to our live together.

As a couple, we are not only partners in life but also in business-fueling our passion and dedication to constructing and creating innovative solutions.

For this we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

– Romans 8:28

Our passion for movement is at the heart of all we do—Alvin, a Biomechanics/Neuroscience Specialist and former Olympic-level athlete, spends his days coaching aspiring athletes and curating HALO Salt Lounge guests in Himalayan Salt rest therapy sessions, while Nicole nurtures young souls at Empower School of Movement, inspiring student dancers to express, educate and esteem themselves through the dance arts using 21 years of dance therapy experiences and methods.

The voyage had begun, and had begun happily with a soft blue sky, and a calm sea.

Narrated by Nicole Denise Oxendine

It all started at Halo Salt Lounge in 2021. My mom had visited and thought it would be the perfect place to bring me. She brought all of her daughters, and during our visit, my sister mentioned afterward that the owner loved rocks—because she knew I have a deep love of rocks myself.

Intrigued by his calming presence, I found myself wanting to know more about him and his business. I didn’t expect to meet a Black man who was deeply involved in the holistic health world of a salt lounge and who also had an understanding of dance. As an entrepreneur, I was fascinated by his business model and how he had built Halo. Over the next few months, I went back to Halo Salt Lounge a few times and even brought friends along.

There was so much alignment between us, and over the years, we developed a strong friendship. But by the end of 2023, we had not been in consistent contact for about a year. Around that time, I received my Numerology report, which revealed I was coming up on the end of a 9-year cycle, meaning I wouldn’t find love for another nine years if I didn’t open my heart.

One day, as I was leaving the gym (360 Approach) and playing “Sure Thing” from my love playlist, something unexpected happened. While turning into my building on Parrish Street in Downtown Durham, I almost ran someone over. That someone was Miles.

We reconnected immediately, but this time, I saw something different in him. This man wasn’t just my friend—he had been showing up for me all along, and I hadn’t even realized it. Since 2020, Miles had subscribed to my mailing list, donated to my nonprofit, and even attended my dance recitals. He showed up for me in ways that were quiet but so meaningful.

And then, in September 2024, under the light of a full moon in the parking lot of his home, he asked me to marry him.

I couldn’t be happier to share my life with Alvin Lee Miles, Jr.
